Bass Drum Muffling
Stu, I know that you use some sort of muffling rings on your toms, but what do you use to dampen the bass drum?

Hey dude, You're right I use those remo muffle rings for the toms....I don't, however, use anything on my snare....I like the high pitched "ring" to be left in that. As for my Bass drum....I have many muffle items. I have a pillow in there, I have a few articles of clothing from pants to shirts....hmm....should pro'lly get those to wear huh.....then the most important item I have to muffle the bass drum is the legendary Schmock (see phluxisms for more info on that one), other than that.....I did just buy a bass drum mic a few months ago, and we've been using that to its fullest extent to get the best sound we can....and the sound we want. It's amazing what a difference it makes.

Yes, the difference is amazing, but its mostly picking up the amazing psycho-acoustical patterns of that legendary schmock. That's why Stu's bass drum really pops!
