How to get fried.
So we were jamming out last weekend with Tim Sheppard, the bassist and our good bud from the band Brainplow. He brought over this cello and we had a great time with him. Anyway, to get to the point, we were working on hooking him up with this amp. Well, I've got this really old Hohner amplifier, and since we were all playing electric (hard to rock out with acoustics when you've got a full acoustic drum kit in the room), we had to get his cello volume up. So we plugged him in through this old pickup I had salvaged from a crappy destroyed ovation guitar I found along my travels, and into this Hohner. The sound was not that good, but not that bad for what we were using. It was actually cool cause it cut through the mix pretty well. But I went to turn up a bit of midrange, and touched both the amp and my guitar (keep in mind the Hohner amp is not grounded). I got FRIED for a second or two! It was crazy! I am glad to be alive! Well, these things happen...

You take 10 drums of french fry oil, 10 gallons of #2 heating oil, and a diving board...

YOu'd think I'd learn. This happened to me again just this weekend, but it was with a different amp - an old Fender Bandmaster and a fender Hot Rod deville. Something about grounding issues, I guess. It again gave me a good jolt!
