It's a little known fact that submariners do not eat submarine sandwiches. They often eat heroes, grinders, hoagies, and Italians, but never submarine sandwiches. Hope this helps!
...interestingly though heros eat hero sandwiches, grinders eat grinder sandwiches, and Italians eat Italian sandwiches. Additionally people from hamburg eat hamburgers, etc. It seems probable that a submariner must have eaten a sub sandwich at some point in the history of submarines.
