closer 2 the end...
I remember at Angie's one time Clint threw out that Closer 2 The End was about NATO bombing (but then said after the show he was just joking)...

But I'm curious, what's the song about? The lyrics are vague and open for pretty much any interpretation (which is cool). What was the original inspiration?

The song could be about a roll of toilet paper. The closer you get to the end, the harder it is to leave the nearly empty roll on the spindle... Its an obsessive-compulsive disorder thing...

Well the lyrics do say "I see you, you don't see me, I'm your one true friend" which could mean that they're sick of getting treated like shit from whoever and it's like their closer to the end of their rope and are this close to leaving them altogether. And as we all know leaving friends is never easy - so maybe the person in the song would never leave them no matter how much they say they will. But that's just my take on it.

Incidentally...Is "Red" about a girl who's been murdered?

Actually, I guess I'm really curious about the chorus, "Take me where the posies die, I feel dead again..." That seems like such an odd thing to say, I was wondering what it meant (or if that's what it really says).

Ok I guess I forgot to hit "add reply" the 2nd time because I did reply to this but it didn't show.

Zach for what's it worth I've heard those same lyrics since I got the tape a couple months ago so if we're hearing the wrong words then we're hearing the same wrong words.

I thought it was "where the posies lay" and if thats that case that would mean the ground, the dirt. like they want to be buried....and quick.
